Staple #2 JEANS - The Right Cut for You!

It’s one of those items that everyone (man and children included) should own. It’s everyone’s weekend go-to pant and in my opinion, needs no introduction! BUT how many of us dread shopping for that perfect pair of jeans?

I remember as a young girl entering into my teens (yes people, those awkward years) shopping for my very first “big girl” pair was far from fun. What an ordeal!! I tried on so many different pairs that by the end I needed a chocolate to replenish my energy levels. You’ll be pleased to know, we came home with a pair of Levi’s (yes Mum, I remember!).

I completely empathise with those of you who try to avoid shopping for jeans entirely. It seems it may even be a little overwhelming these days due to the massive array of shades and forms. Hipster, mid-rise, high rise, distressed, bootleg, straight leg, skinny leg…the list goes on!

The great news is that while there are a lot of cuts and shades on the market, there is sure to be a pair that fits you like a glove. Shopping for a pair of jeans shall no longer be placed in the “too hard basket”…not if I have anything to say about it! Here are the perfect pair of jeans for your body shape…

Pear
Avoid large protruding or embellishments on back pockets or large side pockets.
Boot-cuts will help balance out your proportions, so consider it the ideal cut for you.
Preferably steer clear from skinny jeans.
Available from Levi's Store Australia

Apple
Fuller waists and boot-cuts are ideal but apples often have great legs so don’t rule out the skinny cut.
Ensure there is no fading or distressing in areas you don’t want to draw any attention to.
A mid-rise finish is best. This means the jeans are likely to terminate at around the belly button. Avoid a high rise or low rise.
Avoid smaller pockets which can make a behind look larger than what it actually is.
Avoid the stretchy fabrics. Stronger, more rigid denim fabrics will ensure that all the right curves are created.
Available from Asos.com

Rectangle
Can generally wear any cut but for the most flattering style, opt for a slim fit.

Available from Levi's Store Australia

Hourglass
A higher waist will ensure a rear end does not pop out.
Skinny jeans will show off your perfect curves and a high waist works well in showing off your narrow waistline.
Available from Target Australia

Hope this helps!
