EMBRACING SHOULDERS

Wondering aimlessly through Melbourne’s city streets, I notice a common trend among window displays and fellow citizens - “off-the-shoulder” “off-the-shoulder” “off-the-shoulder”.
Hello summer = hello sun-kissed shoulders!

Off-the-shoulder tops and dresses are here in a big way and why not? The look is sexy, flirty and above all else it suits most body shapes. My dear pear shapes this cut is ideal for you, so make this season your time to shine. How do you know if you’re a pear shape? If the widest part of your body is around your bottom, hip and thigh, then you are what we fashion stylists call “a pear”.

Alternatively, if you stand in front of a mirror in form fitting clothing (or ummm….stark naked) and draw the outline of your body shape, pay attention to the shape you’re hands are creating. Is it a pear? If in the next 30 seconds you make the discovery that you are in fact a pear, then welcome!

Off-the-shoulder tops broaden your shoulders and draw attention to your neckline. Add a little necklace (or two) to break the “bareness” but be mindful that a bit of bare skin around the neckline screams sexy. Add some droopy earrings and this will automatically elongate your neck.

You can get an off-the-shoulder top in many lengths and just so you know, they are not going anywhere any time soon so don’t be afraid to jump on board one of this seasons must have trends!
