On an ordinary day in the office a beautiful colleague of mine introduced me to a label owned by her dear friend “Jess”. The label was only in its infant years but from the moment I set my eyes on what I can only assume was one of their very first ‘Look Books’ back in 2011, I knew it was going to be a hit!
I opened the attachment to view the ‘Look Book’ several times throughout the day simply to admire the tall blonde beauty
sporting the most effortless boho inspired feminine pieces with the perfect
amount of edge. Well, it was either that or the cuts and prints providing a tropical island feel that whisked me away from my less appealing work desk.
Eventually (like 5 minutes in), I surrendered to the temptation and made my very first s t e e l e. purchase; a kimono and a dress, both of which I still wear today (talk about
value for money!). Since then I have added a skort (shorts with skirt-like
frontage), an off-the-shoulder top, a camisole and a skirt to my collection. Each time I wear these pieces I receive an influx of
compliments - “I love that print!” “Where did you get that?” “Those sleeves are gorgeous!!”
On a more technical note, fabrics are chosen carefully to ensure they align with the fresh and feminine reputation of the brand and while I would speculate that the designs are aimed at the young at heart, I have stumbled across some pieces that a woman of any age would look fabulous in. Price points may not accommodate all budgets, but I most certainly wouldn’t classify it amongst the unattainable, especially during the sale season.

The mastermind behind this label is Jessica Reid (or “Jess”
according to my colleague). Her vision is quite simple really “to create beautiful clothing that inspires a fresh attitude”.
A s t e e l e. piece always tends to make me feel glamorous, put together and comfortable, which is really important for a mummy of 3 boys. On top of that they are designed in Melbourne which, in my books, just ticks another box (I'm a huge advocate for supporting our locals and economy).
S t e e l e. has come a long way since my first introduction back in 2011. The label has caught the eye of celebrity fashion stylist Lana Wilkinson and with fans such as Rebecca Judd and Megan Gale often seen sporting their pieces, s t e e l e has evidently reached a new level of success. I knew it!
